The bill provides additional funding to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as well as funds to account for recent damage caused by wildfires, enabling aid workers to continue critical recovery operations, debris removal and infrastructure repair. The bill passed in a vote of 82-17.\r\n\u201cThe devastation we\u2019ve seen from hurricanes this fall has just been overwhelming and almost unfathomable. And while progress has been made on recovery efforts, communities simply have not been able to overcome the challenges they are facing on their own. And while we work on long-term solutions, I\u2019m proud that we are helping to provide substantial relief so those that have been impacted by these natural disasters have the supplies they so desperately need,\u201d said Senator Murkowski. \u201cAs devastating wildfires continue to burn, we have secured funding to make forest management programs whole to help prevent these catastrophic fires we are seeing and ensure firefighters have tools they need.\u201d\u00a0\r\nBill Highlights:\r\nDepartment of Homeland Security\r\n \r\n$18.67 billion for the Disaster Relief Fund for major disasters declared under the Stafford Act; $4.9 billion of which may be transferred to the Disaster Assistance Direct Loan Program.\r\n \r\nDepartment of Agriculture \r\n \r\n$184.5 million for the Forest Service for \u201cWildland Fire Management\u201d for fire borrowing repayment.\r\n$342 million for the \u201cFLAME Wildfire Suppression Reserve Fund\u201d for fire borrowing repayment.\r\n \r\nDepartment of Interior\r\n \r\n$50 million for Wildland Fire Management to repay amounts transferred to the Forest Service for wildfire suppression.\r\n \n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\n    \n    \n\t\n\t\n    \n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\n    \n\t\n     \n\t\n \n\t\n    \n    \n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t  \n\t\t\n\t\n\t  \n\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t \n\t\t\n\t\t\tPrint\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tEmail\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tTweet", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.murkowski.senate.gov/press/release/murkowski-supports-disaster-aid_"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.493785995990038, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
