Connecticut has taken serious steps to protect our waterways, but one state cant solve this alone. Its a national problem that needs a national solution, said Murphy.\r\nIm glad the House passed this important legislation today, and I encourage my colleagues in the Senate to follow their lead as soon as possible, he added.\r\nIn response to a Southern Connecticut State University study that revealed that plastic microbeads are polluting the Long Island Sound, Murphy called on retailers earlier this year to discontinue the sale of products containing the harmful plastic microbeads.\r\nThis year, the Connecticut General Assembly passed a law banning the sale of microbeads by 2017.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.murphy.senate.gov/newsroom/in-the-news/murphy-ban-harmful-microbeads"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8205620106309652, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
