As a member of the Senate Foreign\r\nRelations Committee, I havereviewed\r\na lot of both unclassifiedand\r\nclassified information detailing Russia's plan to disrupt the 2020 election, Murphy\r\nwrote. On the administration's repeated attempts\r\nto conflate Russia, Chinese, and Iranian efforts to interfere in our election,\r\nMurphy wrote: [T]he White House, often with the help of political\r\nappointees at the intelligence agencies, istrying\r\nits best to cover up Russia's octopus-like disruption operation. Over and\r\nover, public statements from the Office of the Director of National\r\nIntelligence try toconflate\r\nRussian election interference withIranian and Chinese efforts and\r\nsuggest that while Russia may prefer Trump, Iran and China back Biden. We saw\r\nthis false equivalencyunfold\r\njust last week, when Director of National Intelligence Ratcliffe hastily\r\ncalled a press conference, taking no questions, to disclose an Iranian effort\r\nto contact and intimidate registered Democrats. Despite the fact that the\r\nemails told voters to support Trump, DNI Ratcliffe tried to make the case that\r\nthe intent was to hurt Trump. It was just another effort by the administration\r\nto try to clumsily lump Russian and Iranian and Chinese efforts all together. [T]he more Americans know\r\nabout Russia's intent and capability, the less likely Russia's desperate,\r\nlast-minute attempts at interference and disruption will be. Those who care\r\nabout the future of democracy will press the Administration to reveal what they\r\nknow, before it's too late, Murphy concluded.
