The Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act provides new, full year funding for the federal agencies and programs covered by the bill, including funding for local projects that will strengthen public safety. Peters helped craft and advance this bipartisan bill out of the Appropriations Committee.\n\n\u201cI was proud to fight for these important investments that will help our rural communities invest in the equipment needed to keep Michiganders safe and protected,\u201d said Senator Peters. \u201cI\u2019ll keep working in a bipartisan way to support local projects that strengthen our communities.\u201d\n\nThe bill includes resources secured by Peters for high-impact, local public projects in Michigan, including:\n\nNorthern Michigan\n\nNew Fire Truck for City of Alpena: Peters secured $1,105,000 in the bill for the City of Alpena to replace an essential aerial ladder fire truck to help ensure safe and efficient operations.\n\nUpgrading Emergency Communications Infrastructure in Big Creek Township: Peters secured $74,000 for the Big Creek Township Fire Department to upgrade its radio system. The new system will ensure department staff can efficiently and effectively communicate when responding to emergencies.\n\nTraining First Responders in Grand Traverse County: Peters secured $80,000 in the bill to support the construction of a new training facility for the Northwest Regional Fire Training Center Authority.
