Peters", "P000595", "www.peters.senate.gov", "garypeters", "https://www.peters.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases", "scraper", "WASHINGTON, D.C - U.S. Senators Gary Peters (MI) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) today announced that Colon Township and the Hart Area Fire Department will receive $184,500 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to improve operations and safety. The funding comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency\u2019s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.\n\nColon Township will receive $132,500 to replace their self-contained breathing apparatuses. The Hart Area Fire Department will receive $52,000 to purchase new radios.\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s critical that our local fire departments have the resources they need to respond to emergencies safely and effectively,\u201d said Senator Peters. \u201cThese grants will ensure that the fire departments in Colon Township and Hart are able to best serve their communities.\u201d\n\n\u201cOur firefighters put their lives on the line to protect our families, homes, and communities,\u201d said Senator Stabenow. \u201cThese new resources will help keep the public safe and give our first responders the equipment they need to do their jobs more safely and effectively.\u201d\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s long overdue that we get new self-contained breathing apparatuses. The health and safety of our staff is a top priority.
