We must never forget the 2,977 people who lost their lives on that day, and the first responders who selflessly ran into danger to save lives. More than twenty years later, we must continue to support these heroic first responders, as well as the dedicated servicemembers and veterans who served in the Global War on Terrorism.\n\n\u201cIn the more than two decades since this horrible tragedy, the threats to our nation have continued to evolve. As Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I will continue leading efforts to ensure that our federal government has the tools and resources necessary to protect against these threats \u2013 foreign or domestic.\n\n\u201cIn the days after September 11th, our nation came together to show our enemies that our resolve will always be greater than theirs.
