The contracts still need to be ratified by UAW members at each of the auto companies.

“The UAW has now received historic contract offers from each of the Big Three auto companies. It’s a testament to how powerful workers are when they come together to collectively bargain for the wages, benefits, and job security they deserve. I’ll keep standing with them as they work towards ratifying a deal with each company — because when unions succeed, it’s a win for all workers.”

Peters has been a consistent supporter of UAW workers. He has joined the picket line with UAW members in Michigan multiple times since the strike began. In July, Peters sent a letter to the CEOs of the Big Three auto manufacturers urging them to negotiate in good faith as the talks began. In August, he met with UAW members in Lansing to show his support and hear their priorities. Peters also organized a multi-member meeting with UAW President Shawn Fain earlier this year.

Michigan is home to the most auto workers in the United States, and UAW represents around 70,000 auto workers in Michigan. The auto industry directly and indirectly employs 1.1 million workers in Michigan, or about 20 percent of the state’s workforce.

###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T00:49:26Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.peters.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/peters-statement-on-tentative-uaw-deals
