Peters\u2019 Commercial Space Activity Advisory Committee Act \u2013 which he reintroduced with U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) \u2013 would establish a Commercial Space Activity Advisory Committee within the Office of Space Commerce. The bill would enable the advisory committee, made up of representatives with extensive experience in the commercial space industry from a variety of fields including space policy, engineering, and research, to share important insights into non-governmental space activity to help inform and shape federal policy and programs.\n\n\u201cSpace exploration is becoming increasingly important to our economic and national security, and our leading experts deserve a chance to provide insight into the future of this emerging industry,\u201d said Senator Peters. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m proud to see this legislation pass the Senate. This bipartisan bill would give space industry leaders in Michigan and across the U.S. a chance to shape federal space policies that will help us remain competitive on a global scale.\u201d\n\nThe Commercial Space Activity Advisory Committee would be comprised of 15 members who make recommendations on various priorities, including:\n\nIdentifying challenges relating to international obligations and export controls that affect the commercial space sector.\n\nAddressing the need to access adequate, predictable, and reliable radio frequency spectrum.\n\nReviewing best practices for U.S. entities to avoid harmful environmental impacts to both earth and space.\n\nProviding recommendations on matters related to space sector development and other activities the advisory committee considers necessary.\n\n###", 1, "2026-08-12T06:18:38Z", "2026-08-12T06:20:33Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.peters.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/senate-passes-peters-bipartisan-bill-to-improve-commercial-space-policy-strengthen-industry-competitiveness"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.842080779373646, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
