{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.portman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=23f4777b-8d0f-4261-8cac-9ae6d63b7ad6", "Portman Cosponsors the Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act", "2013-12-20", "2013", "2013-12", "Republican", "House", "OH", "Rob Portman", "P000449", "www.portman.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Washington, D.C. \u2013 U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) today cosponsored the Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act, bipartisan legislation introduced by Senators Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) proposing prospective sanctions on Iran should the regime violate the interim Joint Plan of Action agreed to in Geneva or should Iran fail to reach a final agreement.\r\nThe legislation was co-sponsored by twenty-seven senators, including: Senators Portman, Kirk, Menendez, Schumer, Graham, Cardin, McCain, Casey, Rubio, Coons, Cornyn, Blumenthal, Ayotte, Begich, Corker, Pryor, Collins, Landrieu, Moran, Gillibrand, Roberts, Warner, Johanns, Hagan, Cruz, Donnelly, and Blunt.\r\n\u201cThe current sanctions regime that Congress insisted on is what got the Iranians to the table,\u201d said Portman.\u00a0 \u201cWe need to keep the pressure on to force the Iranians to agree to a deal that ensures our security and that of our allies - one that verifiably dismantles their nuclear weapons program.\u201d\r\nThe prospective sanctions legislation requires further reductions in purchases of Iranian petroleum and applies additional penalties to strategic elements of the Iranian economy, to include the engineering, mining and construction sectors.\r\nSimultaneously, it gives the Administration continued flexibility and up to one year from the conclusion of an implementing agreement to pursue a diplomatic track resulting in the complete and verifiable termination of Iran\u2019s illicit nuclear weapons program.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.portman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=23f4777b-8d0f-4261-8cac-9ae6d63b7ad6"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6443280037492514, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
