{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.portman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=9157B6E0-3986-4589-BACC-97DF9FD1772A", "Portman Helps Secures $30 Million Authorization to Help Finish Smale Riverfront Park in Cincinnati", "2016-12-10", "2016", "2016-12", "Republican", "House", "OH", "Rob Portman", "P000449", "www.portman.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) announced on Saturday that he had helped secure language in the FY 2016 Water Resources Development Act designed to help finish the Smale Riverfront Park in Cincinnati.\u00a0 Portman\u2019s provision authorizes the Army Corps to conduct a study on the final components of the project and if it determines they are feasible, the bill authorizes $30 million to help complete the final phases of the park. \u00a0Portman issued the following statement:\r\n\u201cThis is good news for Cincinnati and all those who love Smale Riverfront Park, which has helped transform downtown, bring new visitors to the city, and boost the local economy.\u00a0 I\u2019m particularly pleased that this effort has broad support from the state, county, city, as well as dozens of philanthropic organizations and businesses.\u00a0 I remain committed to working with the Army Corps of Engineers on this important project to ensure we finish the park and that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely.\u201d\r\nNOTE: The language in the bill secured by Portman requires the Army Corps of Engineers to conduct a study on the final flood control, ecosystem restoration, and recreation components of Smale Riverfront Park \u2013 an effort designed to complete the project. This bill authorizes $30 million to complete work on the park if the Army Corps study determines the components are feasible. If the Army Corps\u2019 study determines that the projects are feasible, Congress would then consider appropriating the money. \u00a0The bill\u2019s authorization has a federal-state 50:50 matching requirement. \u00a0This money can be spent on flood risk reduction and ecosystem restoration.\u00a0 Cincinnati Parks and the Army Corps are overseeing the planning, development and building of the park, and funding has included a mix of public and private dollars, including from the federal government.\u00a0 The project has leveraged $6 for every $1 of federal money invested in the project.\u00a0\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.portman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=9157B6E0-3986-4589-BACC-97DF9FD1772A"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9686420671641827, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
