Rob Portman (R-OH) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the president has signed into law the Fiscal Year 2017\u00a0National Defense Authorization Act\u00a0(NDAA), which authorizes funding for the Abrams Tank and the Stryker Vehicle, which are both produced at Lima\u2019s Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC). The NDAA includes $652 million to support modifications to the Abrams Tank and $579 million for the Stryker Vehicle.\r\n\u201cThe best tanks in the world are made in Lima, Ohio,\u201d Portman said. \u201cAnd with this $1 billion investment, Congress is recognizing that and ensuring that the JSMC continues to provide these tanks to our troops. This is good news for taxpayers, good news for our military, and it\u2019s very good news for Lima, and I\u2019m proud of the role I played with Senator Brown in making it happen.\u201d\r\n\u201cSome of the safest and most advanced military vehicles in the world are made in Lima,\u201d Brown said. \u201cIn October, we had the honor of bringing Under Secretary Murphy to the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center to highlight how important continued federal investment in the Abrams Tank and the Stryker Vehicle is to our military readiness and preparedness.
