Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) applauded the release of a tax extenders package that would provide tax relief for Ohio families and businesses.\r\nIm pleased that the bill unveiled today will provide tax relief for Ohio families and workers, Portman stated. This legislation will provide certainty for families who might otherwise have seen their taxes go up. It will also provide stability for businesses so that they can grow and hire more workers right here at home. While I will continue to work toward comprehensive tax reform that will lower rates, get rid of special interest loopholes, and end temporary tax policy altogether, this bill is a step in the right direction. It gives businesses the certainty they need to expand and add jobs and puts more money in Ohioans pockets that they can put towards groceries, college tuition, or saving up for vacation.\r\nThe package includes important tax relief and tax policy priorities Portman has championed:\r\n \r\nPermanent increased ability to expense new investments for small businesses\r\nPermanent Research and Development Credit\r\nPermanent expansions of the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit along with program integrity provisions that make sure these credits are going to those who truly need them\r\nAdding the long-term unemployed as an eligible group under the Work Opportunity Tax Credit\r\nFive years of bonus depreciation with important policy adjustments that will allow more Ohio manufacturers to take advantage of the deduction\r\nAbility for Enrolled Agents to advertise using their credentials\r\nMeasures to prevent IRS targeting and abuse\r\nProvisions making it easier to attract capital to U.S. real estate markets\r\nFive year extension of the New Markets Tax Credit Program\r\nProvisions to clarify IRS treatment of church pension plans\r\nExtension of policy promoting energy efficient commercial buildings\r\n \r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.portman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=a74f096e-2872-4e03-9b49-4b61ee566bb5"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6279839910566807, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
