Smith\u2019s case began at the Biden Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under the codename \u201cArctic Frost.\u201d\n\nThis work follows Sen. Johnson and Sen. Grassley\u2019s bicameral effort to obtain Justice Department and FBI records related to the collection of Members of Congress\u2019 phone records during Arctic Frost.\n\nThe letters that Sens. Johnson and Grassley sent to five federal entities on Oct. 10, 2025 are listed below:\n\nDepartment of Homeland Security\n\nDepartment of Defense\n\nOffice of the Director of National Intelligence\n\nNational Archives and Records Administration\n\nU.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Columbia\n\nThe Oct. 11, 2025 letters to the telecommunications companies are listed below:\n\nVerizon\n\nAT&T\n\nT-Mobile\n\nLumen\n\nAdditional co-signers of these letters include U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), John Kennedy (R-La.), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), Katie Britt (R-Ala.), and Ashley Moody (R-Fla.), as well as Rep.
