The Obama administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u00a0(CDC) need to communicate far better and provide more competent leadership to protect our citizens. \u00a0Effective leadership begins with honest and forthright communication that will help reduce the justified concerns of the American public.\u00a0\u00a0\r\n\u201cLeadership also requires acknowledging reality and taking strong action to respond to it. \u00a0Responding to the threat of Ebola should include restricting the travel of individuals that have recently been in affected nations or those exposed to Ebola patients. \u00a0Restrictions would include selective travel bans and appropriate isolation or quarantine. \u00a0In addition to protecting Americans here at home, we need to make sure the finest among us, our troops overseas, are kept safe while constructing Ebola treatment units in affected nations in West Africa.\u00a0\r\n\u201cFinally, the CDC needs to make protocols clear and necessary protective gear readily available to medical personnel \u2013 so that those treating the sick don\u2019t continue to be infected.\u00a0 This is a critically important time for the administration to act decisively to contain and prevent the further spread of Ebola in America and around the world.\u201d\u00a0\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.ronjohnson.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=43b152a2-06c9-4385-9bb7-1d8852c34d06"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.43746891990304, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
