This meeting comes as Donald Trump announced a new 50 percent tariff on a long list of Canadian goods. Trump\u2019s continued gratuitous attacks on Canada have also impacted Nevada\u2019s tourism industry, with international visitation to Las Vegas dropping 17.4 percent last year.\n\n\u201cFrom tourism to agriculture, Canada plays a critical role in Nevada\u2019s economy. Our tourism, manufacturing, and agriculture sectors all rely heavily on Canadian visitors and imports,\u201d said Senator Rosen. \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s reckless attacks on one of our strongest allies and largest trading partners are needlessly hurting businesses, raising prices, and decreasing tourism. I am glad to have met with the Consul General of Canada, and will continue pushing to ensure that we maintain a healthy, fair relationship with our allies to the north.\u201d\n\nSince the start of the Trump Administration, Senator Rosen has pushed back against Trump\u2019s reckless and illegal tariffs, and has been one of the strongest advocates for maintaining our historic partnership with Canada. Last year, she sent a letter urging the Trump Administration to reverse its decision to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico. During a Senate hearing in June, Senator Rosen discussed the impact of Trump\u2019s tariffs and decreased international travel on Nevada.
