The Women Add Resourcefulness and Resilience to Improve Operational Readiness (WARRIOR) Act reinforces the principle that the U.S. military has always relied upon: standards must be based on the demands of the job, not gender. This bill comes in light of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth\u2019s decision to order a study examining \u201cthe effectiveness of women in combat jobs,\u201d despite there being no evidence that the presence of women in combat units lowers standards.\n\n\u201cTime and time again, Secretary Hegseth has proven that he is willing to jeopardize our nation\u2019s security to promote his extreme ideology and deny qualified service members the roles they have earned. Women serving in uniform are essential to our nation\u2019s military strength and readiness, and must be given the same opportunity to serve as everyone else,\u201d said Senator Rosen. \u201cI\u2019m glad to help introduce this bill to ensure that every single service member is judged not by their gender, but by their ability to meet the merit-based standards that are the bedrock of our military effectiveness.\u201d\n\nSenator Rosen has fought to protect the rights of servicewomen and veterans. In March, she voted in favor of a resolution to overturn Trump\u2019s extreme abortion ban ending life-saving abortion counseling and reproductive care for veterans.
