The U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board (TTAB) has provided a valuable forum for leaders across the travel and tourism industry to share their insight into the challenges facing the sector and provide direct input on federal tourism policy. However, this board has not met once since the start of President Trump\u2019s second term despite stark decreases in domestic and international tourism nationwide due to Trump Administration policies. Senators Rosen and Klobuchar were joined by Senators Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Brian Schatz (D-HI), Jack Reed (D-RI), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Cory Booker (D-NJ).\n\n\u201cThe travel and tourism industry is a vital part of our economy, supporting millions of jobs for Americans and sustaining many of our nation\u2019s communities, making travel slowdowns all the more devastating,\u201d wrote the senators. \u201cPolicymakers need to hear from industry leaders when making decisions that could have broad economic consequences, and without that input, legislators and the Administration risk making decisions without a full understanding of how they could affect the travel and tourism industry.\u201d\n\n\u201cDuring your confirmation process, you voiced your support for efforts that promote travel and tourism to the United States. Holding regular TTAB meetings \u2014 as the Board has traditionally done in past years \u2014 would go a long way towards advancing those efforts by bringing together voices from various parts of the industry,\u201d the senators continued. \u201cWe are encouraged to know that the Department is now working to renew the TTAB\u2019s charter, but we urge you to see that process through and restore the Board to regular operation as soon as possible.\u201d\n\nYou can read the full letter HERE.\n\nSenator Rosen has been a champion for Nevada\u2019s tourism and hospitality industry. In June, her bill to strengthen visa processing capabilities and support international tourism advanced out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Senator Rosen also recently hosted a roundtable with UNLV, the UFC, the Raiders, the Athletics, and organizers of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix to discuss sports tourism to Nevada, highlighting UNLV\u2019s new sports hospitality program.
