These systems are currently in possession of the United States and are not being utilized.\n\nThe announcement to transfer these Iron Dome systems comes after Rounds and Rosen led a bipartisan letter urging the DOD to take this action as Israel continues to face rocket and missile attacks from Hamas and Hezbollah.\n\n\u201cI am pleased to see that the Department of Defense is transferring these Iron Dome systems to Israel,\u201d said Rounds. \u201cThe United States must do everything we can to help our ally as they continue to defend their nation against terrorist attacks from Hamas. This is an important step in the right direction.\u201d\n\n\u201cSince their terrorist attack began nearly three weeks ago, Hamas has indiscriminately fired thousands of rockets into Israel,\u201d said Rosen. \u201cThe Iron Dome defense system is the only thing preventing Hamas\u2019s rockets from killing countless innocent people.
