And I think our alliance, the partnership between the U.S. and the U.K., is perhaps the most productive and most important alliance in the world.\u201d\r\nSky News\u2019 Adam Boulton: \u201cWhy is that? Because, you know, as you said, we\u2019ve got other partners. We\u2019re in with Europe. You\u2019re supposedly tilting toward Asia. Why is that?\u201d\r\nRubio: \u201cI think it\u2019s that the two most effective and most powerful voices who support liberty, democracy, freedom, freedom of expression, freedom of speech, free enterprise, and a free enterprise economy. These are important principles that we share, and since the end of World War II, have had extraordinary success in defending and, quite frankly, spreading around the world.\u201d\r\nBoulton: \u201cAnd what about as a conservative? You\u2019ve been here, you\u2019ve met people like Michael Gove, George Osborne, Philip Hammond, other foreign officers. How important do you see that relationship between the Conservative Party and the Republican Party?\u201d\r\nRubio: \u201cWell it\u2019s interesting. As I\u2019ve been here and travelled, what\u2019s most struck me is how similar some of your domestic debates are with ours. Including the effort by conservatives to figure out how we can apply our principles to the modern era, the 21st century. We\u2019re having the same debate in the U.S.\u00a0 In the U.S., I can tell you that the nature of our challenge is that there are many people in our country who are trying to make it and trying to get ahead, and feel like the Republican Party doesn\u2019t stand for, or speak for, people like them.
