As chair of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, Schatz worked with congressional leaders and Hawai\u2018i officials to ensure the state received its fair share of federal funding.\n\n\u201cThanks to the historic investments we made in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, nearly $2 billion in federal funding has been awarded to Hawai\u2018i to improve our roads, bridges, ports, public transit, and water infrastructure,\u201d said Senator Schatz. \u201cThe law is helping make high-speed internet a reality for people across the state while also creating jobs and cuttings costs for Hawai\u2018i families. We\u2019ll keep working to make sure Hawai\u2018i continues to receive its fair share of federal dollars in the years to come.\u201d\n\nTo date, $1.9 billion in IIJA funding has been announced for more than 81 projects in Hawai\u2018i, including:\n\n$1.4 billion for transportation \u2013 to invest in roads, bridges, public transit, ports and airports;\n\n$164 million for clean water and water infrastructure; and\n\n$149.5 million to connect everyone in the state to reliable, high-speed internet which is helping more than 55,000 Hawai\u2018i households save on their monthly internet bills.\n\nAdditional projects that are awarded funding from the law will continue to be announced in the coming months.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T01:01:09Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.schatz.senate.gov/news/press-releases/schatz-to-date-nearly-2-billion-allocated-to-hawaii-from-historic-infrastructure-law"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.0231358464807272, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
