This year\u2019s class represents eight public and seven private schools on Hawai\u2018i Island, Kauai, Maui, and Oahu.\r\n\u201cOur Schatz Seniors are some of the most active and community-engaged high school students in our state,\u201d Senator Schatz said. \u00a0\u201cI look forward to working with this year\u2019s class as they continue to develop useful civic leadership skills that they can apply in their schools and communities.\u201d\r\nThe Schatz Seniors internship program provides a hands-on opportunity to high school seniors interested in learning about the U.S. Senate. Students will work with Honolulu outreach staff and help to identify issues of interest in their schools and communities. They also attend and staff special events co-hosted by Senator Schatz. As part of the program, all students must maintain a 2.0 GPA. Interns were selected based on their community involvement, diversity of interests, and demonstrated leadership qualities.\r\nSelected high school students participating in this year\u2019s Schatz Seniors Internship Program:\r\nHawai\u2018i Island\r\nShevalyn Yamaguchi (Pahoa), Kamehameha Schools Hawai\u2018i\r\nMichael Note (Kamuela), Parker School\r\nKauai\r\nKate MacHorek (Kalaheo), Kauai High School\r\nMaui\r\nCasey Sales-Salcedo (Kihei), Henry Perrine Baldwin High School\r\nMikayla Lau (Wailuku), Kamehameha Schools Maui\r\n\r\nOahu\r\nAdrien Magpoc (Kapolei), American Renaissance Academy\r\nKenneth Go (Honolulu), Damien Memorial School\r\nTerry Lam, (Honolulu), \u2018Iolani School\r\nLuc Lavatai (Mililani), \u2018Iolani School\r\nHannah Miller (Laie), Kahuku High and Intermediate School\r\nSharissa Miyasato (Honolulu), Henry J. Kaiser High School\r\nJordan Bell (Waianae), Kapolei High School\r\nOliana Moe (Waianae), Admiral Arthur W. Radford High School\r\nAina Katsikas (Honolulu), Sacred Hearts Academy\r\nKiana Paakaula-Reis (Waialua), Waialua High and Intermediate School\r\n\r\nApplications for next year\u2019s Schatz Seniors Internship Program will be available at www.schatz.senate.gov in August 2015.
