By codifying the NFED in statute, the bill would make the division permanent and ensure that the federal government can continue to crack down on rampant fraud and protect taxpayer dollars for years and generations to come. This is the first piece of legislation to come out of the work of Senator Schmitt\u2019s Anti-Fraud Task Force.\n\n\u201cFraud is not a victimless crime. Codifying the NFED is the first step toward strengthening oversight and accountability on behalf of the American people. So far, the Trump Administration has uncovered over $200 billion in fraud, and it\u2019s time for Congress to do its part. This is only the beginning.
