Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $174,305 in federal funding for Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) in Batavia, Geneva, and Sleepy Hollow. The funding was allocated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through Public Housing Operating Fund Shortfall grants. The grants will provide direct support to PHAs experiencing financial insolvency.\r\nEvery New Yorker deserves a safe and secure place to call home, and this federal investment helps public housing authorities get one step closer to achieving that goal, saidSenator Schumer. As New York faces a rapidly-surging second wave of COVID, we need to do all we can to support affordable housing, especially for our most vulnerable residents. Access to safe and reliable housing will determine whether or not New Yorkers can socially distance and avoid tragedy this holiday season.
