Scott\u2019s remarks below (as delivered):\n\nOn the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act framework:\n\n\u201cPromises made, promises kept.\n\n\u201cPresident Trump made a very important promise on the campaign trail, and we are delivering both the House and the Senate passing historic housing legislation.\n\n\u201cThe 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act really does meet the need. It focuses on local jurisdictions, number one.\n\n\u201cIt removes red tape and unnecessary burdensome processes from the federal government, number two.\n\n\u201cAnd number three, it creates and will expand housing supply while focusing on affordability.\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s so important as a kid who grew up in poverty, my mother became a first-time home buyer at the age of 38. Today in America, that age is 40.\u201d\n\nOn the solutions:\n\n\u201cHow do we bring those prices down? How do we make it easier for your average person to experience their version of the American Dream through home ownership?\n\n\u201cI think it starts by making sure that Washington understands solutions start at home.\n\n\u201cSo, what you\u2019ll find in this legislation is we start in local jurisdictions, and we start by making sure that both the House, the Senate, Republicans and Democrats, do not see this issue as red versus blue, House versus Senate.\n\n\u201cWe see this as taking care of Americans who desperately want to experience the American Dream.\u201d\n\nOn moving forward:\n\n\u201cWe made that possible through legislation that passed the House 399 to 1, passed through the Senate unanimously.\n\n\u201cNow we find ourselves taking 20 to 21 provisions out of the House bill out of 25 and 36 out of our 40 creating in harmony legislation that moves housing forward for the average American, and it\u2019s really good news.\u201d\n\n###", 1, "2026-04-04T05:28:40Z", "2026-04-04T05:30:10Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.scott.senate.gov/media-center/press-releases/icymi-sen-tim-scott-highlights-the-21st-century-road-to-housing-act/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9467161726206541, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
