Yesterday, Shaheen released a statement on reports that the White House was preparing to unveil a health care framework that included a temporary extension of the enhanced premium tax credits.\n\nOn Fox & Friends, Shaheen said: \u201cI appreciate the fact that the President said he\u2019s willing to come to the table, I think Democrats are ready to join in any negotiations and our Republican colleagues have indicated that they think we can come up with a compromise. But it\u2019s in everyone\u2019s interest to get this done because we know that 76% of people who receive those premium tax credits are in states that Donald Trump won when he won the election last year, 57% of them are in Republican Congressional districts \u2013 so there\u2019s a real incentive to get this done. And if Republicans don\u2019t come to the table, the American people are gonna make them pay at the polls next year.\u201d\n\nOn CNN News Central, Shaheen said: \u201cI think Democrats are willing to come to the table. I understood that a number of our Republican colleagues also wanted to get this done. It\u2019s in their interest \u2013 they understand that this is an issue not just for blue but for red, and that people don\u2019t care what party you\u2019re in. Through negotiations to reopen the government, Shaheen secured a guaranteed vote by mid-December on legislation to address skyrocketing health care costs.
