At the time, they didn\u2019t realize they qualified as a special need\u2019s adoption exemption, so they amended their 2022 and 2023 tax returns at the end of 2024 to reflect the change. After months of waiting for an update from the IRS, they contacted Senator Slotkin\u2019s office for help in October 2025. My constituent service team contacted the IRS and was able to get their tax returns amended with no issue.\n\n\u201cEven through the government shutdown, they gave us updates on our case and when we were should expect the next point of contact.
