They hope to achieve financial security before starting a family.\nWe also met George, a firefighter in his mid-twenties, who is living comfortably in his small town with a salary of $48,000 per year. He\u2019s thinking ahead, wanting to start putting money away for his future family.\nAnd finally, there was the Smith family\u2014Steve, Melinda, and their two kids\u2014living on a tight budget with a combined yearly income of $59,000. Steve and Melinda want to get to a place where they do not have to struggle with everyday expenses.\nWith the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, all of these hardworking Americans will get relief from our outdated and overcomplicated tax code.
