Recent reports have shown that U.S. citizens are getting caught up in this surveillance incidentally.\nThe Senator's bill:\n \nEnds the practice of warrantless searches of data collected under Section 702 of the FISA.\nPrevents warrantless reverse targeting of Americans who are communicating with foreign targets.\nPermanently bans the government from collecting information from Americans who discuss a foreign target.\nStrengthens oversight of FISA Court.\nImproves transparency by allowing for the release of data and FISA Court opinions necessary for the public's understanding of surveillance programs.\nEnhances legal standing for Americans to challenge the constitutionality of surveillance conducted by the government under Section 702 authority.\n \nFull text of the legislation is available HERE.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.tester.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=5603"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8517841342836618, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
