I was proud to champion the creation and funding for this program because as the folks at Malmstrom know better than anyone, the backbone of family readiness means a strong foundation rooted in the communityand this facility is a welcome addition for our servicemembers and their families. \nIn 2019, Tester partnered with Senators Jerry Moran and Heidi Heitkamp to include Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP) funding in the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a must-pass annual bill that sets funding levels and policies for the Department of Defense (DOD). Tester again led the charge alongside Moran, successfully securing $50 million through the defense appropriations bill to support critical public infrastructure and quality of life initiatives.
