{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.thune.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=64131D05-E904-4A61-A9C9-90989478B440", "Thune on a Year of Results: Safer Streets, More Money in Americans\u2019 Pockets, New Opportunities", "2025-12-16", "2025", "2025-12", "Republican", "Senate", "SD", "John Thune", "T000250", "www.thune.senate.gov", "thune", "https://www.thune.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases", "scraper", "Clickhereto watch the video.\n\nWASHINGTON \u2014 U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) today spoke at a press conference with Senate Republican leadership:\n\nThune\u2019s remarks below (as delivered):\n\n\u201cWe are, as you all know, wrapping up what I think has been an incredibly historic and consequential legislative session.\n\n\u201cAnd if you look at just in terms \u2013 we talk a lot about the number of votes cast, which is historic, largest number going back to 1976, and then also just the number of days we\u2019ve been in \u2013 all those things add up.\n\n\u201cBut I would argue that it\u2019s not just that, because I think volume doesn\u2019t necessarily equate with productivity.\n\n\u201cBut I think we\u2019ve had an incredibly productive session of this Congress as well, in terms of the things that we\u2019ve accomplished to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.\n\n\u201cOf course, as you all know, the One Big Beautiful Bill had a number of things in it on the tax side, things that [the] American people are going to benefit from, whether it\u2019s no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, reduced taxes for seniors on Social Security.\n\n\u201cWhether it deals with the taxes on the expanded child tax credit, standard deduction, making permanent the rate structure on the business side, all the business tax provisions that are going to incentivize investment in this country and create those good-paying jobs that keep our economy growing and expanding.\n\n\u201cSo, we\u2019re very pleased with things that were accomplished as a result of that, and I would also say when it comes to keeping the country safer.\n\n\u201cWe haven\u2019t had, in this last year, a single illegal immigrant admitted into the country, and we made a big investment in the border wall, fully funding the border wall.\n\n\u201cWe made a big investment in national security at a time when we live in a very dangerous world.\n\n\u201cEnergy independence was a priority, as you know, in the One Big Beautiful Bill.\n\n\u201cAnd obviously newborn accounts, you can go right down the list of what I think are very consequential accomplishments and things that are going to benefit the American people for years and years to come.\n\n\u201cSo, we are very pleased about how things have gone.\n\n\u201cYou add on top of that, we\u2019re going to have over 400 nominees confirmed by the end of the year, which is way ahead of the previous two administrations.\n\n\u201cAnd if you look at the number of Congressional Review Act resolutions of disapproval, repealing burdensome \u2026 Biden regulations.\n\n\u201cWe have, I think now, passed 24 of those and 22 have been signed into law.\n\n\u201cSo a lot accomplished, but we aren\u2019t going to rest on our laurels around here, we\u2019re going to keep our foot on the gas.\n\n\u201cAnd as we think about next year already, we\u2019re working to put together an agenda that we think will continue to build on the success of this last year, but also set us up for success in 2026 and make sure \u2026 that we are doing everything we can to deliver on our promise to make this country safer, stronger, and more prosperous.\n\n\u201cAnd it\u2019s all about safer streets; it\u2019s all about more money in your pocket, the pockets of the American people; and it\u2019s all about new opportunities for the American people to get ahead.\u201d", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:09:11Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.thune.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=64131D05-E904-4A61-A9C9-90989478B440"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9582149796187878, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
