{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.thune.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=DCDC2BEE-36EF-41F8-8D79-E5C8A320FD1B", "Thune Joins Larry Kudlow on Fox Business", "2025-10-20", "2025", "2025-10", "Republican", "Senate", "SD", "John Thune", "T000250", "www.thune.senate.gov", "thune", "https://www.thune.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases", "scraper", "Clickhere to watch.\n\nWASHINGTON \u2014 U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) today joined Larry Kudlow on Fox Business.\n\nOn Democrats\u2019 shutdown hypocrisy:\n\n\u201c[Democrats] had their big \u2026 protest this weekend, got all their left-wing groups satisfied all over the country, and it seems like at least now they ought to come back to their senses and realize that shutting down the government\u2019s not good for anybody, and I think they\u2019re starting to feel the heat on that.\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s just not a defensible position in the long term \u2026 If they don\u2019t vote to open up the government \u2026 they\u2019re going to have to start explaining to the American people why they consistently vote to shut down the government at a time when there are important priorities that need to be funded \u2013 whether that\u2019s air traffic control, or TSA, or Border Patrol, law enforcement, our troops, obviously, first and foremost.\n\n\u201cThose are all things that very shortly here are not going to get paid if \u2026 the government doesn\u2019t open up.\u201d\n\nOn Democrats\u2019 health care crisis:\n\n\u201c[Democrats are] trying to hijack the federal government in exchange for $1.5 trillion in new spending and to bail out a program that is failing and is driving insurance premiums up for people in the individual marketplace \u2013 I don\u2019t know how you defend and explain that.\n\n\u201cAnd I think that\u2019s starting to sink in with the American people. The Democrats are \u2026 going to own this. And like I said, we\u2019ll give them another vote this evening to open up the government; see what they do.\u201d\n\n[\u2026]\n\n\u201cI\u2019m happy to have the conversation about the unaffordability of Obamacare and what we might be able to do to fix that, but you can\u2019t do that while the government is being held hostage \u2026 They want a guaranteed outcome.
