The program works to expand broadband access in Georgia’s unserved and underserved communities, strengthening access to affordable, high-speed internet across our state, particularly for the estimated 15% of Georgians who currently lack reliable broadband access. The funding will be distributed to various local contractors by the Georgia Technology Authority to build out the state’s broadband network.

“This federal investment means life gets easier for hundreds of thousands of Georgians, and it provides the tools and infrastructure our communities need to be competitive in today’s economy,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “You need a broadband connection to do just about anything, you can’t even farm without a broadband connection. That is why I am glad to see Georgia finally get the federal funding it needs to close the digital divide despite unnecessary delays and disruptions from the current administration. I will continue to push this administration to release all federal resources available to get Georgians online quickly and efficiently.”

“Our historic bipartisan infrastructure law continues to deliver for Georgia. This is a major next step toward ensuring every Georgia family and business has high-speed Internet,” said Senator Ossoff.

Senator Warnock is a champion for strengthening broadband access for Georgians across the state. In 2024, Senator Warnock visited the Georgia-based optical fiber manufacturer OFS Fitel with former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. He also led an effort urging the FCC to expand the E-Rate program, which would allow schools and libraries to provide Wi-Fi hotspots to students and educators. Additionally, in 2022 the Senator hosted former FCC Chair Rosenworcel in Jackson County. Senator Warnock has also worked with Senator Luján to urge the FCC to prevent digital discrimination by facilitating equal access to broadband internet through its rulemaking process. In June 2023, Senators Warnock and Ossoff announced $1.3 billion in federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. In May 2025, the senators demanded the Trump Administration release funding for states under the BEAD program.

###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:09:11Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.warnock.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/warnock-ossoff-announce-over-300-million-for-georgia-broadband-expansion/
