A large part of the hardship facing rural communities stems from the president\u2019s so-called \u2018One Big Beautiful Bill\u2019\u2014signed one year ago this week\u2014which made life more expensive for working families and gave tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans. The president\u2019s illegal war with Iran and reckless trade war, cuts to Medicaid, and his refusal to extend health care tax credits\u2014which helped more than 30,000 Vermonters access health care\u2014have only worsened the affordability crisis gripping our country,\u201d said Senator Welch. \u201cAt the end of the day, President Trump\u2019s disastrous policies have raised costs for Vermont families\u2014it\u2019s an unsustainable financial burden for families who can\u2019t make ends meet.
