Wicker", "W000437", "www.wicker.senate.gov", "wicker", "https://www.wicker.senate.gov/category/press-releases/", "scraper", "Resolution Highlights the Importance of Telehealth Services & Urges Further Action\n\nWashington \u2013 Today, the Senate unanimously approved the resolution introduced by U.S. Senators Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, designating September 20-26, 2026, \u201cTelehealth Awareness Week.\u201d This resolution recognizes the role that telehealth services play in delivering high-quality health care to millions of Americans.\n\n\u201cTelehealth has reduced barriers to health care across Mississippi, yet too many patients around the country are not fully aware of its benefits,\u201d said Senator Roger Wicker. \u201cOur resolution shines a light on the value of telehealth services and encourages further action to expand the offerings and outcomes around this innovative type of care.\u201d\n\n\u201cTelehealth helps people access quality health care when and where they need it, and our resolution highlights the broad, bipartisan support for raising awareness of and expanding access to telehealth,\u201d said Senator Schatz.\n\nThe senators\u2019 resolution described the importance of telehealth to various populations, including rural communities and areas strained by workplace shortages. It also noted that 23 percent of Medicare beneficiaries received at least one telehealth service in 2025 and warned that lapses in Medicare coverage in this space would create negative impacts on seniors\u2019 access to care.
