This funding will provide public-private partnerships to small and medium sized manufacturers across the state.\n\n\u201cIf we don\u2019t make things in America, we won\u2019t have a middle class in America, and when Oregon\u2019s manufacturing industry does well, all Oregonians benefit,\u201d said Merkley. \u201cThis funding gives the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership the support it needs to provide local manufacturers with opportunities to grow and be competitive in the global marketplace.\u201d\n\n\u201cThe manufacturing that generates good-paying jobs throughout Oregon doesn\u2019t happen by osmosis; it requires smart and targeted investments just like this,\u201d said Wyden. \u201cI\u2019m gratified the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership has earned these federal resources, and I\u2019ll keep teaming up with our state\u2019s manufacturers to secure the investments they need to thrive.\u201d\n\nThe funding comes from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a part of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program.
