Oregon's U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden today announced that $1,467,000 in federal grant funding is headed to the McMinnville Municipal Airport to support the reconstruction of 10,500 square yards of existing apron.\r\nAirport aprons are terminal-adjacent areas where aircraft are parked, boarded, unloaded, and refueled.\r\nThe McMinnville Municipal Airport plays a critical role in helping Yamhill county residents and businesses stay connected with other communities in Oregon and beyond, said Merkley. I'm pleased that this funding will help maintain the airport so that it will continue to serve Oregonians for years to comeand will keep fighting for the transportation investments we need to resume travel and rebuild our economy after this pandemic is over.\r\nAirports providing service to Oregonians living and working in smaller communities like Yamhill County are essential to quality of life and keeping the local economy robust despite the economic consequences of COVID-19, Wyden said.
