Applications were received from 140 high school students, and a select group was interviewed by an advisory board chosen by Senator Young. Out of 75 offered interviews, 47 exemplary young men and women from across Indiana received a nomination from Senator Young.

A nomination does not guarantee admission to a service academy, but is required in order to be considered. Nominees are chosen based on personal merit. Criteria considered include evidence of character, leadership, academic excellence, physical aptitude, and extracurricular activities.

“I had the privilege of recommending a talented group of Hoosiers for admission to the United States service academies this year,” said Senator Young. “These young men and women are highly qualified to serve our country, and I’m very proud of their hard work. I wish them the best of luck in their application process.”

Senator Young’s service academy nominees are listed below:

United States Air Force Academy

Cooper Burton

Wheeler High School

*Also nominated to the United States Naval Academy

Anna Daughtry

Wabash High School

Braedon Forward

Culver Academies

*Also nominated to the United States Naval Academy

Sara Hoeppner

Leo Jr/Sr High School

*Also nominated to the United States Military Academy and the United States Naval Academy

Tucker Hutchinson

Triton Central High School

Evan Maxwell

Brownsburg High School

Rick Orr

Warsaw Community High School

Madalyn Richardson

Washington Township High School

*Also nominated to the United States Merchant Marine Academy

Dirk Rumfelt

Fairfield Jr/Sr High School

*Also nominated to the United States Naval Academy

Warner Sims

Pendleton Heights High School

Quinn Smith

Concordia Lutheran High School

*Also nominated to the United States Merchant Marine Academy

Vance Toth

Knightstown Community High School

Ryan Verkamp

Jasper High School

Andrei Wallstrom

Canterbury High School

Sean Windell

Heritage Hills High School

United States Military Academy

John Benson

Indianapolis (studying abroad)

David Callahan

William Henry Harrison High School

Leo Dillinger

Twin Lakes High School

*Also nominated to the United States Naval Academy

Cameron Echard

Westfield High School

Alexander Fan

Center Grove High School

Luke Herring

Southwood Jr/Sr High School

Gregory Hutcheson

Brownstown Central High School

*Also nominated to the United States Merchant Marine Academy

Bradley Kehler

Signature School

Anna Mauch

St. Theodore Guerin High School

Keirsten Nies

Pioneer Jr/Sr High School

Tait Owens

Decatur Central High School

Max Phenicie

Zionsville Community High School

Gavin Poteet

Roncalli High School

*Also nominated to the United States Naval Academy

John Roberts

Culver Academies

United States Merchant Marine Academy

Justyn Anciso

Roncalli High School

Ben Christner

Greenwood Community High School

Connor Day

Evansville Christian School

Samara Ducasse

Warren Central High School

Brayden Mercier

Chesterton High School

Jacob Moss

Rossville High School

Garrett Quick

Reitz Memorial High School

Robert Shaw

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School

Parker St. John

Roncalli High School

United States Naval Academy

Sebastian Harbeson

Eastern High School

Jessica Kang

Culver Academies

Kate Laherty

Culver Academies

Thomas Mariani

Cathedral High School

Jackson Nevil

Tipton High School

Santino Pape

Crown Point High School

Adam Peterson

Homeschooled

Nathaniel Temeles

Penn High School", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T19:07:19Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.young.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/senator-young-announces-nominees-for-united-states-service-academies-6/
