Every year from September 15 to October 15, we come together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, to honor the contributions of the Latino community in Louisville, our Commonwealth, and across our nation. \r\n\r\n\tMore than 132,000 Latinos call Kentucky home  bringing depth and richness to our culture, history, and economy. It is this diversity that makes our nation unique and gives us strength in the world. \r\n\r\n\tIn Washington, this year's celebrations are overshadowed by continued inaction on comprehensive immigration reform. For the better part of 2013, I worked with a bipartisan group of House Members to fix our broken immigration system. And I believe Congress should enact legislation now that promotes humane enforcement, provides a path to citizenship, secures our borders, and keeps families together. \r\n\r\n\tThat work continues today. But on this day  and through October 15  I'm proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
