Wingate Andrews High School in High Point, NC.\nCongresswoman Adams is visiting area high schools in the 12th District to promote the Congressional App Challenge and to encourage students of all tech skill levels to participate. The Challenge is an app competition for U.S. high school students, focused on STEM and computer-based skills, which are essential for growth and innovation in today\u2019s 21st Century economy.\nWith the current technical skills gap faced across the U.S., some experts predict that the country may face a shortage in programmers by as many as a million, come the year 2020. Careers in tech and STEM offer high-paying and in-demand jobs. And in order for America to remain competitive in today\u2019s global economy, the country must invest in its youth.\u00a0\n\u201cThe Congressional App Challenge is a great opportunity for students in the 12th District and across the nation to take their affinity for technology and turn it into a pathway for a successful career in the STEM field.
