{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://adams.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/congresswoman-adams-response-cromnibus-bill", "Congresswoman Adams Response to the Cromnibus Bill", "2014-12-12", "2014", "2014-12", "Democrat", "House", "NC", "Alma Adams", "A000370", "adams.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON, DC\u2014 Last night Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) voted against H.R. 83, the \u201cCromnibus\u201d appropriations bill that came before the U.S. House of Representatives.\u00a0 She made the following comment regarding her vote:\n\u00a0\n\u201cAlthough I know how important it is for us to pass a budget, I could not support the \u2018Cromnibus\u2019 bill that was brought before the House last night.\u00a0 It contained too many harmful provisions that could negatively impact the folks in my district.\u00a0 Instead of making hard choices to continue to fund the government, Republicans have used this bill as an opportunity to weaken a key provision in the Dodd Frank legislation that protects tax payers.\u00a0 By undermining this provision, we are creating the same climate that almost caused the collapse of our entire financial system and caused hundreds of thousands of people to lose their homes.\u00a0 Just yesterday, The Winston-Salem Journal reported a spike in foreclosures in Forsyth County.\u00a0 This can be attributed to the loose regulations that Dodd Frank was designed to prevent.\u00a0 The people in my congressional district are still recovering and we can\u2019t afford to go backward.\n\u00a0\nThere is also a provision in this bill that would allow wealthy individuals to contribute more to political campaigns.\u00a0 Allowing wealthy individuals to contribute more only gives more power to special interests.\u00a0 Our political system should be open to all people, not just those who have money.\u00a0 None of these things have anything to do with funding our government and they should not be in the bill.\u00a0 I have made it my life\u2019s work to fight for working families.\u00a0 Unfortunately, this bill does not live up to those principals and that is why I could not support it.\u201d\n\u00a0\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://adams.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/congresswoman-adams-response-cromnibus-bill"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 3.04992008022964, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
