Hastings (D-FL) introduced a resolution honoring Malala Yousafzai on receiving the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for her commitment to advancing gender equality in education (Legislation Attached):  \n\u00a0  \n\u201cAt age 17, and the youngest Nobel laureate in history, Malala Yousafzai has distinguished herself as a courageous and tireless activist for global equality in education despite being met with great adversity.\u00a0 After surviving a 2012 assassination attempt by Taliban gunmen while on her way to school, she has emerged as a leading and outspoken advocate for gender equality in education.\n\u201cTo date, approximately 13 million school age girls in Ms. Yousafzai\u2019s home country of Pakistan remain deprived of an education where girls\u2019 schools continue to be targeted by militants.\u00a0 This resolution not only celebrates Malala Yousafzai\u2019s contributions to education equality and congratulates her on receiving the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, but also reaffirms support for the safety and education of children all around the globe.\u201d  \n\u00a0  \nJoining Congressman Hastings as original co-sponsors of the resolution are Representatives (13): James McGovern (D-MA), Corrine Brown (D-FL), Frederica S.
