The NDAA is the\u00a0annual legislation which authorizes vital defense spending and sets priorities for America\u2019s military. S. 2943 passed the House by a bipartisan vote of 375-34. Rep. Allen issued the following statement in support: \r\n\u00a0\u201cThe NDAA is a vital piece of legislation and how Congress fulfills its most important responsibility\u2014to provide for the common defense.\r\nNot only does this legislation ensure the readiness and preparedness of our nation\u2019s military, it also secures the largest pay raise for our troops in six years and strengthens military healthcare. \r\nFor Georgia-12, this legislation brings needed funding back home to Fort Gordon as it expands with the Cyber Command relocating to the CSRA. Specifically, the NDAA authorizes over $100 million in military construction for Fort Gordon to ensure finalization of the U.S. Army Cyber Command Complex. \r\nAs a Member of Congress, this legislation is one of the most monumental bills we pass and I am proud each year to cast my vote in favor of it.\u201d \r\n  \r\nS. 2943, the National Defense Authorization Act:\r\n \r\n    \r\n    Authorizes funding for operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Europe\r\n    \r\n    \r\n    Prevents the drawdown of the military and bolsters readiness\r\n    \r\n    \r\n    Provides the full 2.1% pay raise for our troops \r\n    \r\n    \r\n    Extends critical authorities for our forces overseas and in harm\u2019s way, especially those fighting terrorism across the globe\r\n    \r\n    \r\n    Strengthens military healthcare\r\n    \r\n    \r\n    Reforms organization of the Department of Defense\r\n    \r\n    \r\n    Restores the National Security Council to its original purpose\r\n    \r\n    \r\n    Maintains prohibition on the closure of Gitmo and the transfer of detainees to the U.S. \r\n    ####", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://allen.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=565"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.1231768876314163, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
