{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://barletta.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/barletta-statement-regarding-house-passage-of-able-act", "Barletta Statement Regarding House Passage of ABLE Act", "2014-12-10", "2014", "2014-12", "Republican", "House", "PA", "Lou Barletta", "B001269", "barletta.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON \u2013 Congressman Lou Barletta, PA-11, today issued a statement regarding the House of Representatives passage of the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act by a vote of 404-to-17.\u00a0 The ABLE act amends the Internal Revenue Service code to establish tax-exempt accounts for individuals with disabilities to assist in paying for certain expenses, including higher education, primary residence, transportation, employment assistance, health and wellness, and other personal support expenses.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\n\u00a0\nBarletta\u2019s statement is as follows:\n\u00a0\n\u201cThe passage of the ABLE Act is a huge step forward for people with disabilities and their families.\u00a0 So many times, families have been left in the difficult position of choosing between taking care of children\u2019s special needs and planning for their future.\u00a0 The ABLE Act helps families avoid that predicament and lets them plan ahead.\n\u00a0\n\u201cAs it stands now, people living with disabilities are unable to accumulate more than $2,000 in assets without endangering their Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid benefits.\u00a0 This bill allows them to live independently and make decisions on their own, outside the artificial limits placed on them by the federal government.\u201d", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://barletta.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/barletta-statement-regarding-house-passage-of-able-act"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.9801100715994835, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
