Special guests Dr. Michael Drake, President, The Ohio State University, and Curtis Stitt, President and CEO, Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), joined Beatty at the Forum which was held at the Ohio History Connection. \u00a0\n\u201cExactly 61 years and one week ago, Rosa Parks courageously refused to give up her seat and move to the back of a segregated Montgomery, Alabama city bus,\u201d Beatty said during the Community Leaders Forum. \u201cIn that one moment, Parks\u2019 showed the \u2018Power of One\u2019 individual to challenge the status quo and forever change our country and the world forever.\u201d Beatty continued, \u201cRosa Parks is an inspiration to us all.\u201d\nBeatty\u2019s Community Leaders Forum coincides with the State of Ohio\u2019s annual observance of \u201cRosa Parks Day,\u201d a statewide tribute first conceived by then-State Representative Joyce Beatty. In 2005, Beatty wrote, advocated and won unanimous support for a bill to designate December 1st as \u201cRosa Parks Day\u201d in the Buckeye State.
