{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://carson.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/congressman-carsons-statement-on-president-obamas-address-on-the-threat", "Congressman Carson's statement on President Obama's address on the threat posed by ISIL", "2014-09-10", "2014", "2014-09", "Democrat", "House", "IN", "Andr\u00e9 Carson", "C001072", "carson.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Washington, D.C. \u2013 Congressman Andr\u00e9 Carson (IN-07) released the following statement following tonight\u2019s Presidential address. \n\u00a0\n\u201cTonight, the President addressed the continued advancement of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).\u00a0 The unprecedented gains ISIL is making in Iraq and Syria threaten to destabilize more than just the region.\u00a0 By capturing major cities, sophisticated weaponry, oil fields and other forms of financing, ISIL has the resources to pose a real threat to our national security.\u00a0 \n\u00a0\n\u201cI stand by the President\u2019s decision to work with our allies and expand support for the Iraqi military and Syrian rebels.\u00a0 By providing training to the rebels and air strike support in Iraq, the United States and our allies can significantly degrade ISIL.\u00a0 \n\u00a0\n\u201cI will be keeping in close contact with the White House.\u00a0 If the President intends to extend this campaign beyond what he has outlined tonight, he has an obligation to come before Congress for proper authorization.\u00a0 After more than a decade of war, the American people are not prepared for another prolonged conflict.\u00a0 I will hesitate to provide any additional authorization without significant consultation.\u201d", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://carson.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/congressman-carsons-statement-on-president-obamas-address-on-the-threat"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.5038379933685064, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
