The program has not officially started and applications are not available yet, but you can begin preparing now. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) expects to accept applications within six months.\nHere's what we know about the new programs:\n Executive action expanded the existing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for immigrants who came to the U.S. as children in the following ways:\n\t\tThose who entred the U.S. before January 1, 2010 and meet all other DACA requirements are now eligible, regardless of how old they are today\n\t\t\tGoing forward, DACA relief will be granted for three years\n\t\t\n\tAs of November 20, 2014, you are eligible for DACA if you: \n\t\tCame to the U.S. before reaching your 16th birthday and have no lawful status;\n\t\t\tHave continuously residded in the U.S. before January 1, 2010, through the present time;\n\t\t\tEntered without inspection before June 15, 2012, or your lawful immigration status expired as of June 15, 2012\n\t\t\tAre currently in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, have obtained a general education development (GED) certificate, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed\u00a0 Forces; and\n\t\t\tHave not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor, or three or more misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or personal safety.\n\t\t\n\tExecutive action created a new program, Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA), which will benefit parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents. The DAPA program requires:\n\t\tParents to have continuous residence in the U.S. since January 1, 2010;\n\t\t\tAre the parents of U.S. citizens or lawful permanent resident born on or before November 20, 2014;\n\t\t\tAre not an enforcement priority for removal from the U.S. pursuant to the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s enforcement priorities published on November 20, 2014.\n\t\t\n Can I apply now?\nNo. Even if you may be eligible for these programs, you cannot apply for them yet! The government expects that it will start accepting applications for the expanded DACA program approximately 90 days following the President\u2019s November 20, 2014 announcement.\u00a0 And the government expects to be accepting\u00a0 DAPA applications approximately 180 days following the President\u2019s announcement.\nHow can I get ready?\n If you know someone who is in immigration detention and is eligible for one of these programs, advise them to identify themselves to their case officer, or the ICE Information Line at 888-351-4024, and explain that they are eligible for one of these new programs.\n\tBeware of notarios and immigration fraud.\u00a0 Contact only a qualified immigration lawyer or accredited representative for your case.
