This funding comes through the Health Resource and Services Administration\u2019s (HRSA) $230 million nationwide Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education grant program, which was created as part of President Obama\u2019s landmark healthcare reform law, the Affordable Care Act.\n\u201cChrist Community Health Services provides a vital service to the Memphis community,\u201d said Congressman Cohen.\u00a0 \u201cThis Affordable Care Act funding will help Christ Community Health Services train more doctors and continue to provide the poor, the homeless, and the uninsured with the health care services they need.\u201d\nTo help achieve the program\u2019s goal of increasing the number of primary care residents and improving access to health care services, HRSA\u2019s Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education initiative provides assistance and funding for medical education expenses for training residents in new or expanding community-based primary care residency programs.
