This funding comes through the Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program.\n\u201cIt is a tragedy that so many of our veterans in Memphis and throughout the country are homeless,\u201d said Congressman Cohen. \u201cThese grants are just one way we can give back to the veterans who gave so much for us.\u201d\nAs a critical part of the Obama Administration\u2019s commitment to end veteran and long-term chronic homelessness in 2015, the HUD-VASH Program combines rental assistance from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) with case management and clinical services provided by VA. Since 2008, the program has awarded more than 48,000 rental assistance and vouchers helped place more than 42,500 formerly homeless veterans in homes. HUD\u2019s annual \u201cpoint in time\u201d estimate of the number of homeless persons and families for 2012 found that Veteran homelessness fell by 7.2 percent (or 4,876 people) since January 2011 and by 17.2 percent since January 2009.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://cohen.house.gov/press-release/cohen-announces-more-82000-help-reduce-veteran-homelessness-memphis"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8450690656900406, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
