The legislation extends for another 10 years sanctions against foreign companies investing in Iran\u2019s energy sector and technology related to weapons of mass destruction. It ensures Congress is able to maintain pressure on Iran as the United States continues to abide by the Iran Nuclear Deal. While this legislation does not impose any new sanctions on Iran, it provides for the \u201csnapback\u201d of sanctions, should Iran violate the nuclear agreement. It passed the Senate by a 99 - 0 vote and the House of Representatives by a 419 \u2013 1 vote.\n\u201cI am pleased this legislation is now law, despite President Obama\u2019s true allegiance. Near unanimous votes by the House and Senate weren\u2019t \u00a0convincing enough for the President to back the obvious will of the majority of Americans.
