Cuellar Announces 7.5 Million Texans Have Gained Access to Free Preventive Care Due to the ACA", "2013-12-09", "2013", "2013-12", "Democrat", "House", "TX", "Henry Cuellar", "C001063", "cuellar.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX28) released figures highlighting the number of individuals in Texas who have gained access to free preventive care like recommended cancer screenings and immunizations because of the Affordable Care Act \u2013 including both individuals with private insurance and seniors enrolled in Medicare. \r\nDue to ACA, 5,198,000 Texans received expanded coverage of one or more preventive services in 2011 and 2012, according to an analysis by HHS.\u00a0 Furthermore, due to ACA, 2,266,929 Medicare enrollees in Texas received one or more free preventive services in 2012, according to HHS.  \u201cThe Affordable Care Act is allowing access to free recommended preventive services for hundreds of thousands of people in our state of Texas,\u201d Congressman Cuellar said.\u00a0 \u201cThe free recommended preventive services range from mammograms to colonoscopies to flu shots to cholesterol and blood pressure screenings.\u00a0 These free services save lives.\u201d \u201cPreventing illnesses before they become serious and more costly to treat helps Americans of all ages stay healthier,\u201d Congressman Cuellar added.\u00a0 \u201cNo longer will these Americans have to choose between paying for preventive care and groceries.\u201d\r\nHelping middle class families and American businesses take advantage of the benefits of the health care law like free preventive care should be a top priority for lawmakers in Washington.\u00a0 Democrats and Republicans must work together to find a common sense ways to make any needed changes to the Affordable Care Act.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://cuellar.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=364069"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.6114589050412178, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
